Stuffy nose brings about anxiety symptoms/Sinus infection

Stuffy nose brings about anxiety symptoms

At least it does for me. I realized that yesterday. I'm weaned off of my antidepressant and having been hanging in there with some mild anxiety.

But my sinuses are acting up as they usually do around the Spring. It's kind of early this year I guess. Anyway... if I did the slightest notion of problems breathing my anxiety starts acting up. Not full blown anxiety attacks where I start hugging everyone goodbye b/c I think I'm about to die.

It's one layer of irritation (trying unsuccessfully to unclog nasal passage or clear the throat...) upon another that's causing these anxious feelings.

Your body might have a tendency of weak spleen function (this is a term of traditional Chinese medicine=TCM). When we think too much, spleen function could be damaged, and then loss of appetite and loose stool follow. Or we are inherited weak spleen function from the birth. When spleen function becomes weak, anxiety and pensiveness follow. TCM says spleen function control moisture and dampness. When spleen function weakens, this dampness begins to accumulate in the body. TCM also says dampness is made by spleen and stores in lungs. Your two problems could be related with weak spleen function. As soon as your weak function of spleen is treated well, you are going to be free from depression and sinus problem or allergy. And you are not going to die, but rather you are going to have full energy and enjoy your life.
